Morocco man dies in weekend crash, driver charged

Indiana State Police report a crash over the weekend resulted in the death of a Morocco man. Reports say it was just after nine Sunday night when troopers responded to the crash on a rural road near Morocco. According to state police, the pickup driven by Andrew Kepchar of Crown Point was northbound on Newton County Road 400 West, when the truck left the roadway, hit a utility pole, rolled onto its side and caught fire. Thomas Richardson, a passenger in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Kepchar was taken to the hospital, where tests allegedly showed he’d been driving under the influence. Kepchar was taken to the Newton County Jail, charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicating causing death. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
