Out of a field of 20 applicants, Kankakee Community College officials say the Board of Trustees has whittled the list down to two finalists take over as College president.. They’re identified as Dr. Laurie Chesley of Grand Rapids Michigan and Dr. Michael Boyd of Manteno. Boyd is currently vice president for instruction and chief academic officer at KCC. Chesley is provost and executive vice president at Grand Rapids Community College. A final decision is expected as soon as next Monday. The new president will replace Dr. John Avendano who is retiring in June after 10 years in that position. .
